Three magpies gather in their natural plumage - deep blacks, iridescent blues, and silvery whites. But this time the gathering of the mischievous birds is a solemn one, for they are in mourning. The dead magpie in the middle reveals a contrasting interior world: embroidered insects in vivid colours emerge from within the body, symbolising the unseen vitality and transformation that begins within decay.
